We have a 24-hour number for this exact purpose, which you can call on 0418 773 738.

We handle all matter from beginning to end and have experience in both sentences in all jurisdictions, summary hearings, jury trials, bail applications including supreme court bail application and reviews, as well as appeals in all jurisdictions, including the Court of Appeal.

We handle all types of matters including minor summary and traffic offences such as public nuisance and drink driving, through to more serious criminal offences such as Murder, and serious commonwealth offences such as fraud.

As well as taking on new criminal cases, we're also able to take on criminal casework that's already part way through proceedings. It is no difficulty whatsoever to assist clients who have been assisted by another lawyer in the past or have come to be representing themselves.

Fixed Fee Pricing

For many of our clients, having a clear understanding of how much they are going to spend on lawyers’ fees is important to them. There's always the understandable worry of running up large legal fees without being fully aware of just how much your legal assistance is costing you.

To remedy this problem, Mansia Bovey and Co Lawyers operate a fixed fee retainer service. This ensures certainty right from the get-go about the costs involved no matter how long or complex a matter may be.

This means that you'll pay a pre-agreed fixed fee for each stage of your legal proceedings. A fixed fee arrangement means that you are not charged for every phone call, email or court appearance as there is simply one fee for one job.

The experiences of the firm allow retainers to be fixed as we understand and can readily anticipate the amount of work required to be undertaken on a particular matter.

Your costs will never be more than the fixed-fee that's pre-agreed for each stage of the legal process.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you can’t find the answers you are looking, you are always welcome to call us on 07 4035 8300 for a consultation from our lawyers in Cairns. If you need any help outside of our usual hours, then our 24/7 service is always open at 0418 773 738.
Q. 1 : Why do I need a criminal lawyer?

Put simply, you could be setting yourself up for a lengthy prison sentence otherwise. Whether you are the one at fault or not, we’ll always get you the best possible result. On top of this, we can be present whenever you speak to the police to ensure you do not say anything that could incriminate yourself.

Q. 2 : What separates a traditional and commonwealth offence?

Commonwealth offences (fraud, money laundering, drug importing, etc.) are typically the jurisdiction of the Australian Federal Police – this makes it a significant step up from other crime types. They charge a defendant under the Crimes Act of 1914 alongside the Commonwealth Criminal Code Act of 1995; it is not a state matter.

Q. 3 : What is my alcohol limit when driving?
If you have a learner’s permit or restricted licence, you can’t drive with any alcohol in your system. This is also true if driving a truck, bus, or taxi. For an open licence, there is a 0.05 limit.

"I enlisted the services of Aaron Mansia from Mansia Bovey lawyers when facing criminal charges of which I was innocent. I was extremely impressed with the service provided by Aaron and his team, they were both approachable and professional. I had originally started fighting my case using another very well known Cairns law firm, and was extremely disheartened with how little they were helping me. After sacking my first legal representatives, and finding Mansia Bovey, I immediately felt confident in their ability and the transparency with all aspects of my representation. I would often send emails or texts late in the evening with questions, expecting a response the following day. To my surprise, Aaron (on several occasions) rang me back that same night, discuss my concerns and addressed the issues. Very few lawyers I know of would call a client at 7.30pm to ease their mind, but this genuine care for the client, is what I was most impressed by. When it was all said and done, Aaron and the Mansia Bovey team got my case dropped, and I was acquitted on all charges. I would highly recommend them!"

"Melanie did a long plea for me and got the best result possible, her ability to articulate the situation to the Judge was impressive.  Melanie is very smart, professional and works to the  highest standards.  I would highly recommend Melanie,Arron and Mansia Bovey lawyers to anyone."

    Debra B.

"I highly recommend Mansia Bovey to anyone who has a complex case. Melanie (and Bridie) explored, researched all options and scenarios for my case - and we won! Melanie was exceptional and went above and beyond what I could have ever expected or wished for.  I can never thank Melanie, Bridie and the rest of the Mansia Bovey team for their professional help. They saved my career."

    Anthony B.

"I never thought I’d be writing a review on a lawyer, but this guy needed a pat on the back. I had the pleasure of having Aaron Mansia represent me in a legal matter that was make or break for my career. Not only did Aaron do an outstanding job, he softened the blow from the magistrate beyond belief and well beyond my expectation. I can highly recommend him and he will always be my go to if the time ever arises again. I cant thank him enough. Job well done mate, it was a pleasure."
